The Park has many interesting stories about its history. It is believed that the rulers during the year 1300 had delegated two brothers, Kolhu and Chimna Patil from the Kohali Community, with the task of constructing a lake and a dam for better agricultural solutions. After the construction of the dam was over, the two brothers dedicated it to their seven sisters. Thus, the peaks around the lake are known as “Saat Bahini” which means seven sisters. Also, the lake has a small island known as ‘Maldonger’ which is believed to be used by the villagers as a refuge from a tribe of professional robbers known as ‘Pindaris’.

Navegaon-Nagzira National Park and Tiger Reserve has a picturesque backdrop and is worth a visit in Central India.
