Kuno National Park, established very recently, has been in the limelight for a while since its evaluation as a secondary home for the endangered Asiatic Lions and also for the reintroduction of Cheetahs in India.

Ruled by the many rulers in the past, this area was under the strong influence of rulers of Sawai Madhopur, as well as Gwalior, as it lies on the border area of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Kuno National Park is close to Ranthambore National Park and Tiger Reserve and is visited by tigers from Ranthambore many times. The vast richness and diversity of indigenous flora and fauna represent a typical cross-section of the dry deciduous forest of Central India, thus it is considered as preferred habitat for relocation of the Asiatic Lions and Cheetahs by many experts.

Though both these projects are in the process of being implemented, wildlife enthusiasts have high hopes for this national park, since it might turn out to be the only park in the world to house all four major wild cats, tiger, leopard, lions, and cheetahs. Non the less, Kuno National Park is worth a visit to enjoy the diverse flora and fauna of the Vindhya ranges.
