Jim Corbett National Park & Tiger Reserve is the oldest National Park of India as well as Asia, situated at the foothills of the great Himalayas and it is one of the most visited wildlife destinations in India.
Named in honor of the naturalist and hunter, Sir Edward James Corbett, Jim Corbett National Park was earlier known as Hailey National Park and also Ramangar National Park for a brief span. British governers in the late 1800s and early 1900s took a lot of effort to establish this area as a national park to protect the endangered Bengal Tigers. The park contains a lot of different varieties of habitats like Mountain ranges, Sal Forests, Rivers and valleys, and grasslands, making it a favorable destination for varied flora and fauna. The major attraction apart from the Bengal Tiger is the endangered Asian Elephants.
