The Vansda National Park, also known as the Bansda National Park, is located in the Vansda tehsil of the Navsari district of Gujarat, India. It sits on the banks of River Ambika which flows through the northeastern boundary of the park and provides and balances the park with its rich biodiversity of flora and fauna. The park receives rainfall of over 2000 mm during the monsoon and hence remains closed during those months. It is nestled amid the Western Ghats and the Sahyadri mountain range, providing ample surroundings for many species to coexist.
The park is also home to many tribal communities such as Kokni, Bhbil, Gamit, Warli, Dangi, and Kunbi tribes. They have all developed a distinct culture of their own and thrive in the natural forest establishment of the park. One can take up a nature education trail from the nearby attraction of the Waghai Botanical Garden to the park.
The incredible deciduous and evergreen forests consist of the “Katas” Bamboo groves that owe its beauty to no felling of trees since 1952. As part of ecotourism, the Gujarat government has set up a camping site in Kilad. The Nature Club of Surat also maintains a Deer Breeding centre in this region.
In February 2020, two Dholes were spotted using camera traps. This was the first sighting of Dholes in Gujarat in 50 years.Major Wildlife
