Tadoba National Park, also known as Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, is the largest one in Maharashtra and very popular for tiger sightings in India.
Tadoba National Park has received its name from God Tadoba or Taru, praised by the local community. It is believed that Taru was a village chief killed in a fierce encounter with Tiger, and thus a shrine was made in remembrance of God Taru. This region was predominantly ruled by Gond tribes, who had their kingdom in the areas of Central India, and their descendants can be seen in local villages.
The area of Tadoba National Park represents Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Forests in the Tiger habitat and has a viable population of Tigers with a high frequency of Tiger sighting.Major Wildlife
