Ranthambore National Park & Tiger Reserve, situated in Northen India, is one of the most popular wildlife destinations to sight the majestic predator in its natural habitat.
The Park was a hunting ground of the royals of Jaipur until 1970. It has derived its name from the 10th century Ranthambore Fort situated within the forest and is open for tourist visits. Ranthambore is also considered an important heritage site due to the ancient ruins found inside. With a combination of dry deciduous forest and swaths of grasslands, it has been home to rich biodiversity. It has also been home to some of the boldest tigers, Machli being the best example, she is the most photographed as well as the most lived tiger in the world.
In 1991, Ranthambore National Park was enlarged with the surrounding forests of the Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary and Kaldevi Sanctuary, making it one of the largest national parks in Northern India spread across a total area of 1300 square km including the reserve area as well as the buffer area.Major Wildlife
